Our Staff

 

Our practice encompasses routine medical care for both children and adults, including immunizations, well child exams, routine gynecologic care and physicals. We manage both acute and chronic medical conditions and maintain good working relationships with the area's top specialty physicians. 

 

Advanced Care Team members are members of our medical team that support our Providers in coordination of patient care. Our Advanced Care Team members are Dr. Palagruto's nurse/care coordinator Tiffany Ingold, LPN, Dr. Wood's assistant/care coordinator Emily Albertson and Amanda's assistant/care coordinator Amy Otto, MA.  

Our Primary Care Providers
Domenic Palagruto, DO

Domenic Palagruto, DO is a board certified family physician. He completed his undergraduate education at Duke University and served four years in the United States Navy prior to entering medical school at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Palagruto completed his residency at Warren Hospital in Phillipsburg, NJ in 2001 and moved here with his family immediately afterwards. Dr. Palagruto volunteers at the New Hope Clinic and is the president of the Brunswick County Medical Society. 

Karen Wood, M.D.

Karen Wood, M.D. is a board certified family physician. She graduated from Duke University and attended medical school at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, P.A. After completing her residency at Abington Memorial Hospital, Dr. Wood worked in private practice for four years in Buckingham, PA. Since moving to NC, she practiced at Women's Healthcare of Southport prior to joining Boiling Spring Lakes Family Medicine. She is the medical director of the New Hope Clinic.

Amanda Carey, PA-C
Amanda Carey is a board certified physician assistant. She earned her Bachelor of Science in biochemistry at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and completed her Master of Science at Milligan University in Johnson City, TN. She is a member of Pi Alpha, the National Honor Society for PAs. Amanda is passionate about primary care, and enjoys supporting both the management and prevention of chronic conditions. She believes in developing strong relationships with her patients in order to best help them make decisions to take control of their life and their health. Amanda lives in Leland with her husband, Ryan, their dog (Raleigh) and cat (Merlot). She enjoys traveling and going to the beach.
